Thought Fishing

You often find these old, wise men appearing in my work. I use them to explore a sense of stillness and the quiet wisdom that comes with time. The fish came quite freely through the brushstrokes, and as they appeared, they began to feel like an expression of his thoughts—passing through his mind like fish through water.

There is something about the idea of trying to catch one as it passes by: a thought, a memory, a moment of understanding. Something fleeting that, for a brief moment, you reach out and hold.
